Customs

Pieces often cross water. This page explains how they are described for authorities, what falls to you as the recipient, and what we cannot control once the parcel leaves the studio.

Declared value & description

Shipments carry a truthful commercial description of the contents — for example handmade art doll or unique sculpture — and a declared value that matches what you paid. We do not understate value to evade duties; doing so can destroy insurance coverage and invite seizure.

Duties, taxes & brokerage

Import VAT, customs duties, and carrier brokerage fees are levied by your country and are your responsibility. Rates vary by jurisdiction and product classification; we cannot quote them. If you refuse a parcel, return costs and any penalties usually remain with the buyer.

Delays & inspection

Border agencies may hold a parcel for inspection without warning. That is outside our control. We provide tracking where the carrier allows; if your shipment stalls, the carrier’s portal is the first place to look. For persisting holds, contact us and we will help from the sender side where we can.

Restrictions

Some materials or simulacra (textiles, wood, antique components) may be restricted or require additional paperwork in certain regions. It is your duty to ensure that what you order can legally enter your country. When in doubt, check your national customs guidance before purchasing.

This page is practical guidance, not legal advice. If you need a specific invoice layout or harmonised code note for your broker, reach out before we ship.
